We have two qualifiers for the Pacafi Bet today but both are just too short for us given their respective races and we will have to opt out. They will both probably win and we will be cussing later but we cannot claim value so cannot nominate them! The horses concerned are Urbain De Sivola 2.00 Taunton and La Estrella 3.25 Southwell trading at 4/5 and 1.25 respectively.

La Estrella is a fascinating horse and a standing dish at the Nottinghamshire track where he has never been beaten. He has won 10 from 10 on this fibresand surface and is five from six over today’s distance. The horse has reverted to winning on the Polytrack this year and scored with the minimum of fuss at Wolverhampton last month. He won this race last year and the admirable nine-year-old and looks a certainty – or does it?
Despite the odds Halla San remains a danger though he was tailed off in a bumper on this surface in last month’s reappearance. The veteran stayer does come out best on today’s terms but has plenty to prove. Chookie Hamilton’s followers will be hoping he is allowed to set a snail’s pace and try to negate his disadvantage at the weights in a sprint finish.
We always believe in logic and maths and try not to stray into the murky world of randomness with our horse racing but a sense from within tells us the horse will get a scare today. Of course if we were offered 4/7 we would snatch it but if we offered 1/3 we would decline a horse trading at 1/4. We say that without having the trading off option of course!
Worth pointing out that Richard Fahey’s horses are out of form so by rights his horse should not win and Keith Dalgleish is one from 10 in the last 14 days so this only aids the chances of La Estrella. For us this is a race to watch with interest and not be involved at all!
I enjoyed watching this video of Don Cantillon, he seems a lovely chap and so humble, what do you think?

At the end of the video he talks about La Estrella and how it won him over £50,000 after winning a seller at Southwell on his first appearance at that track - fascinating stuff!
