Oscar Nominee 3.00 Doncaster is our Pacafi Bet today and we have grabbed the 10/11 with Bet365 best price guaranteed (09.08). Our selection won very well in a Southwell maiden on his hurdles debut and enhanced his reputation despite finishing last of three in the mud at Haydock in a Grade 2 last time. The race was formerly known as the Rossington Main Hurdle and has been won by some useful performers with 2010 winner Peddlers Cross the best recent scorer. This race was against Cinders And Ashes and only beaten three lengths despite not liking the ground and making an error at the final flight.

Today’s ground is fast and he has not raced on anything this quick, the race he won was on good to soft but his father Old Vic won the Chester Vase on firm going. The horse was weak last year but still ran well in two decent bumpers, he is much stronger now and is a nice horse. He seems sure to progress must be hard to beat at this level and especially if he wants to visit Chelthenham, the able Andrew Tinkler rides. Presenting Ace (owned by Dai Walters and a good friend of Hendersons) has been highly tried so far, including when fourth to Montbazon at Newbury last Friday and should find this easier and looks the danger.

Marajaa - should win 6.30 Kempton race as long as there is an early pace...
After a lot of thought this will be our only bet today though the other qualifiers are Pale Orchid 4.30 Lingfield trading at 5/4 and Marajaa 6.30 Kempton trading at 8/11 (09.43). If Best Trip sets a fast early pace then Marajaa must win, the problem is the word if. Could be one to bet in running and if there is an early pace with Marajaa out the back one is almost certain to be matched at equal or better odds. Will watch the race with interest! Yesterday we did not have a bet though had two qualifiers that both won, one was a dead-heat at even money whilst La Estrella was available at 1/4. It was ironic but had Urbain De Sivola been available at even money early yesterday morning we would have selected it with the net result of just getting our money back because of halved stakes. Mind you we like picking winners and that result would have sat on the mantlepiece with all the others. We cheered home La Estrella though we did not back him, always feels strange to call him a him with a name starting with La.

Thanks Paul. M
