Goodbye Alberta!

The Racing Horse takes this opportunity once again to say if you want ‘pie in the sky’ or a ‘get rich quick’ scheme then you are in the wrong place and best if you waved us goodbye! If you want a sound rationale, incremental gains and a profit wrapped in total honesty then please join us?

Winners, winners, winners!

There are two qualifiers for our Pacafi Bet and we expect them to win. Of our last 13 qualifiers 10 have won (the other three came second)! One of those losers was a lay bet for us despite qualifying for the bet so in effect we had 11/13 successes! The prices were quite good considering the type of bet we excel with, and included 2/1, 15/8 and 5/4 winners! Those winners do not include our most recent blog winners with Uxizandre winning at 3/1 and Hurricane Fly at 5/2 (advised prices). At the moment we are at the top of our game, though not accurately reflected in profits for our Pacafi Bet proper, and we appreciate/accept there is work to be done!

Albertas Run and yours truly...

Today we say goodbye to an old friend. Albertas Run 2.40 Cheltenham at 14/1 (Bet365) cannot win and we worry about his soundness. We want him to get round safely and make this his last race! This picture was taken at Jackdaws Castle last year where we were allowed to take him to the swimming pool.

Not a great day for us!

Update 19.56: You can ask my wife Pam for confirmation but after Albertas Run had run a furlong we knew the horse was not right and it had nothing to do with the ground! The horse was/is hurting somewhere and we have sent an email to Jonjo O’Neill to that effect – we hope this lovely horse is now retired!

Meanwhile, JT McNamara was airlifted to hospital in an induced coma after being injured in a fall at the Cheltenham Festival. The renowned amateur rider was partnering Galaxy Rock for trainer Jonjo O'Neill in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup when the pair crashed out at the first fence. Medical staff were quickly on hand to treat McNamara and it was decided to transfer him to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol for further treatment without delay. Course spokesman Andy Clifton said: "JT McNamara is being transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol via air ambulance and continues to undergo assessment." The rider was reported to be conscious following the fall, but McNamara's uncle, the trainer Andrew McNamara, said: "I've been told that JT is in an induced coma at the moment." We send our best wishes along with those for Davy Russell...

Not sure we needed a vet today to tell us whether Cantlow should have run or not. The horse was bleeding profusely from the nose, why would anyone need a second opinion? The horse's well being is everything! Listening to the silly journalist Nick Luck saying idiotically it is ‘only a nosebleed’ only incensed us further!

And...

Paul MoloneyOur winning run of Pacafi Bet qualifiers came to a sudden end today when both failed to win today despite being backed. We know we have members who like to trade on our qualifiers because most of them get supported, many of them significantly, so even in defeat we offer the chance to green up or reduce liability. Both horses were heavily supported with Jean Fleming backed from 4/7 into 4/11. We like jockey Paul Moloney (pictured) but not sure about taking on Bebinn for so long, especially given our mares poor jumping. The Racing Horse did not spot a plan B, was impressed however, with the ride James Banks gave the winner and he probably performed better than our pilot on the day. We could be talking utter rubbish but had no financial attachment to the race. We have watched the replay twice now and that remains our view. Riskit Fora Biskit was supported and expected to win but was just beaten by a better horse and those have to be taken on the chin.
