The Hereford & Borders Harness Racing Club opened their season at Home Farm, Allensmore yesterday with an action-packed card of 9 races under BHRC rules. The Racing Horse was absolutely delighted not only to be invited but also to have a race named after our website in order to raise awareness of harness racing in the region. Race 9 was called WWW.THERACINGHORSE.CO.UK Grade 4 to 6 Handicap 1mile. (1st - £200.00   2nd - £60.00   3rd - £30.00)

IMGP7616The H&B HRC provide racing that is affordable and enjoyable to everyone!

It is a privilege to be associated with this wonderful sport and the Hereford & Borders Harness Racing Club in particular. The Club which celebrates its 21st year in 2015 work tirelessly to provide as many opportunities as possible for horses and their drivers. They try to provide racing that is affordable and enjoyable for everyone, whether competitor or spectator. After our first visit to the circuit and meeting many of the beneficiaries, we believe they succeed!

Fantasizing

Yesterday the Club put on 9 races, they usually have more but there had been four race meetings in the past week. Contained within the card was a race for 'C' Class drivers (the less experienced). Several good drivers have enjoyed their first winners in these - James Haythornthwaite and William Laidler Jnr included. At the other end of the spectrum they ran a race called the 'Mature Mile' series for the Over 50's.

The performance of the day belonged to Fantasizing!

The performance of the day belonged to Fantasizing, owned and trained by Stella Havard and driven by Martin C Roberts. Trailing the gate by 20yds she showed a devastating burst of speed to go round the wide outside of the field, getting to the front with just less than a lap to go on the Hereford turn. Martin did well to gather her as she scrambled on that bend before being straightened up and then the result was never in doubt. This Temptress mare has not been rushed, she won despite being green and short of work and will come on massively for the run. The mare continues to improve rapidly and though a 6yo will be better again next year.

Stella and Fantasizing

The win was particularly satisfying for Stella in that she won her own sponsored race named after a past favourite of hers called Billsgoldnandshake. Fantasizing won by 6l in a time of 2m 8.80secs.

Chloe Wakefield won her test, American Gangster clocked the fastest time!

Congratulations to all the winners but especially Chloe Wakefield who won on her 'test drive.' American Gangster driven by Rhys A Evans has taken on 'hall of fame' status for winning the prestigious www.theracinghorse.co.uk Grade 4 to 6 Handicap. He won a thriller by half a length from Chinatown Kolt driven by Mike Evans in the fastest time of the day in 2m 3.2secs. Congratulations also go to the chestnut Cutchall Hanover and Anthony Fettah for winning the best turned out prize adjudicated by Pam Moon.

Future fixtures include:
