The Racing Horse looked closely at the 7-race card at Chepstow Racecourse and offered some betting advice. How did we do I hear you ask? We landed a fabulous 240-1 winning four-timer!

In the opening Novices' Hurdle Class 4 we reminded our members Altior won first time up and was taken to repeat the feat at the chief expense of French recruit Brave Jaq, who won his sole start in a bumper for Emmanuel Clayeux. We declared the 5/4 on offer with Bet365 looked attractive and but for the fact Nicky Henderson had not shown the requisite form (yet) with his horses his charge would have been a Pacafi. WINNER at 5/4

The Mares' Novices' Hurdle Class 4 was also between two runners in Hollies Pearl and Brise Vendeenne. If Hollies Pearl can show anything close to her good bumper form on this hurdles debut she will win and was a confident selection. Trainer Peter Bowen has his horses running well with 3 winners from his last 10 runners. He is 12-65 for 16% at the course and ridden by his talented son Sean. As we go to print 4/6 is the best price available and given early season this price looks just a little short and not value. At the course 10/11 and 5/6 was available and the price we took. WINNER at 8/11. The Exacta paid £3.00.

In the third race the Novices' Chase Class 2 looked a tricky affair. We said this was a very good novice chase where any six of the seven runners had a chance. Our selection was Cocktails At Dawn at 11/2 (Stan James) to give Henderson a win double. He led all the way and won at 6/1 and the Henderson double was landed as predicted. WINNER at 6/1

The sixth race was a Handicap Chase Class 2 and we thought Drop Out Joe at 8/1 looked more than interesting. He had won two hurdle races, a chase and a point-to-point from 2m 4f to 3m on good and soft ground. He had won on his last two seasonal reappearances and he was just 1lb above the mark he finished second off in the Grimthorpe. He bumped into a very well handicapped Wayward Prince there and his yard has been in top form recently.

Also Charlie Longsdon has his horses flying for early season. We reminded our readers that September showed 5-12 for 42% and October 5-18 for 28%. Futhermore jockey Aidan Coleman is 8-40 for 20% riding for the trainer this season and this partnership represents a potent combination. The information was fantastic - WINNER at 8/1
