The Racing Horse shouted yesterday we were going to follow Jospehine Gordon after a run of near misses, we said: "We are a big fan of Josephine but cannot help but notice her statistics since 4th July 2017. She has recorded 28 consecutive losers but significantly rode 7 second-places and one can only imagine how that feels?" We continued: "Her best chance of a winner appears to be Cool Team for Hugo Palmer but we are more interested in her other rides at bigger prices and will get involved."
We did not have to wait long to collect...
JOSPEHINE LANDS A WIN DOUBLE AS PREVIOUSLY SUGGESTED!
This excellent jockey rode two winners and prices of 5/1 and 3/1 were readily available. Her first winner was Avenue Des Champs for Jane Chapple-Hyam. He was returning from a 14-month absence, but goes well fresh, and featured off an exploitable mark under suitable conditions. He looked well beforehand, travelled like much the best horse into the lead over 2f out and found more in the closing stages to fend off the resurgent runner-up.
CALM RIDE ON COOL TEAM SECURES A GOOD PROFIT
Josephine was then seen to great effect on Cool Team holding off William Buick in the final furlong. The race looked a fair 3yo Maiden but there was nervous moments before the race when Cool Team appeared to sit down in the stalls. We had taken prices between 5/2 and 3/1 and with two decent rivals contesting we feared the worst but to see Josephine keep calm throughout the race before asserting against the near rail made it an excellent day for us, but there was more to come...
ICE ALERT RAN DECENT ENOUGH RACE TO FINISH 2nd at 28/1
In the very next race there was well handicapped horse for Sir Mark Prescott who was never going to be beat but Josephine was riding the complete outsider in the field Ice Alert for John Ryan and she rode the 4yo gelding into second-place at an SP of 28/1. We had ignored the 33/1 available each way and backed the gelding at 10/1 without the favourite on Paddy Power. We also got involved with Exacta which paid £24.70 and CSF £27.95.
NELLIE'S DANCER BEATEN A HEAD at 11/1
In the final race on the card she rode Nellie's Dancer for Scot Dixon and we took the 11/1 each way in the 8-runner event. On this occasion she rode a good race but was just beaten a head by Jane Elliott who rode one of the favourites Darling Guest at 7/2. We were a little annoyed because we had considered the Exacta and CSF but decided against and was then surprised to see it pay £20.70 and £29.80 respectively. But following Josephine Gordon at Yarmouth was great fun for us and gave us a nice profit! She finished 4015122 on the day and we can only hope one or two readers followed us in.
We are now interested on her next rides on the AW, below is a recap of what we said:
NEXT WINNER ON AW WILL BE HER 100th
She rides most of her winners on the AW courses and currently stands at 99 winners on those tracks combined. On Turf she has ridden 63 winners. Probably, because of her light weight (7st 11lbs), she does not get the good 2yo rides on Turf and her stats back that up with just 4-96 for 4%. We want to back her 100th winner on the AW so will give a daily update until that happens, please return...
