Promising late headway on debut when unfancied

Kamikaze Lord is the second foal out of an unraced half-sister to prolific US 6f stakes winner River Bear and US 8.5f juvenile stakes winner Devient Behavior. He made some promising late headway when fifth at Newmarket on debut last month in a Class 4 Novice event, looking of interest if stepped up to 7f on the AW next time. Worth pointing out he was unfancied in the market at 33/1.

Stepped up and nearly won, game effort

He stepped up on that form when only narrowly denied in the same class under positive ride at Ascot (6f, good) 10 days ago. This was expected as he started as the 9/4 favourite. He was always prominent and didn't go down without a fight and this was a clear step up from his Newmarket debut and he should have little trouble in going one better soon and probably today. On that form he sets a clear standard at the weights on this switch to AW and is open to more progress.

Trainer form

The Racing Post has thrown their readers when giving a ? about trainer Jeremy Noseda and his form. The paper is wrong on this occasion and we prove it with our number/fact sheet.

September: 1 winner from 8 runners for 13% (-4.00)
August: 5 winners from 18 runners for 28% (-2.68)
July: 3 winners form 11 runners for 27% (+5.28)
Total: 9 winners from 37 runners for 24% (-1.60)

The above show is actual figures for the last three months and it certainly does not represent a ?

If a trainer scores at 24% then we would suggest a trainer in form! Considering the trainer lost a lot of horses in May his figures remain good from a percentage point of view. 2018 shows 17-70 for 24% (-9.72). At Kempton he records 72-354 for 20% since 1998 but 3-10 this year for 30%. When James Doyle rides for him they combine to score 8-53 for 15%.

Of his rivals

The most interesting newcomer is Riviera Claire, who is a half-sister to four winners including a useful 6f 2yo winner. Naughty Rascal won nicely at Lingfield when sent off favourite on his debut. and another bold bid is expected despite carrying a penalty but the 7lb concession to the Pacafi looks huge in this context. Bob The Bruce has shown no progress since placing at Haydock earlier, Classic Star makes a little appeal but not for win purposes.

Timeform

KAMIKAZE LORD couldn't quite justify favouritism at Ascot last time but it's an effort which suggests he's sure to win soon and he can make the most of the 7lbs he receives from previous winner Naughty Rascal. Bob The Bruce will appreciate the return to 6f and looks best of the remainder.

Value

Looking at the RPR and the weight our Pacafi receives from the only winner in the race suggests we are massively in value! Jamie Osbourne can ready a newcomer so we will watch the market place but that one will have to run a RPR of +98 on debut and we doubt that will happen! We have a lovely stall in box 3 compared to our main rival who is in stall 9 and that seals the deal. We have not even mentioned the way the Pacafi stuck his neck out last time in a driving finish and that encourages the bet even more...

The Racing Horse will update the results of our 2018 Pacafi's as soon as possible especially for those who use percentage of the bank staking which is our preferred option. Our results will show advised odds/best price guaranteed, result, stake, win or lose, balance and strike-rate. The results will be shown at 1pt win stakes. From 1st March 2018 we will use 1 to 2pt win staking when appropriate and most favourable including the use of stake-savers.
