The Racing Horse offer our members our RACECOURSE TEMPLATE, trends and betting advice for the Chester May Meeting. We look at four races on Day 1 and the going is expected to be good though some rain is forecast.

1.50: Stellar Group Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes (Class 2) 5f16y ITV

17/17: Had a recent run that season (100%)
16/17: Finished in the top 3 last time out (94%)
13/17: Favourites that finished 1 or 2 (76%)
13/17: Won over 5f before (76%)
13/17: Priced 5/1 or shorter in the betting (76%)
11/17: Won last time out (65%)
10/17: Horses from stall 2 finished in the top 3 (59%)
..9/17: Came from stalls 1-3 (53%)
..6/17: Winning favourites (35%)
..3/17: Came from stall 1 (but none in the last 12 years) (18%)
..3/17: Trained by Mark Johnston (3 of the last 5 years) (18%)

The horse from stall 5 has won 4 of the last 12

SHOW ME SHOW ME did the job well when making a successful debut in the Brocklesby and that is easily the best form on offer. Stall 8 isn't a disaster and he's taken to make it 2-2. Electric Ladyland is a big player if getting across to bag a prominent pitch from stall 10. Top Buck is another who could go very well.

The Racing Horse Verdict

Great Dame was much improved from debut when landing a 5f Ripon event, making the running and beating a stablemate who won next time. Well drawn to attack again and looks likely to go close. Solid each-way chance. Favourite drawn 8 so not easy...

Exacta paid £35.10 & CSF £29.04 and a GREAT start to the meeting. We are confident of profits both today and tomorrow, please check the info out...

2.25: Arkle Finance Cheshire Oaks (Listed Race) (Fillies) 1m3f79y ITV

15/17: Not won over this trip (or further) before (88%)
15/17: Previous run that season (88%)
14/17: Favourites that finished in the top three (82%)
12/17: Finished 1 or 2 last time out (71%)
10/17: Returned 5/2 or shorter in the betting (59%)
10/17: Winning favourites (1 joint) (59%)
..8/17: Won their last race (47%)
..6/17: Won by trainer Aidan O’Brien (35%)
..5/17: Winners from stall 4 (29%)
..4/17: Ridden by Ryan Moore (24%)
..2/17: Winners that went onto win the Epsom Oaks (12%)
..0/17: Ran at Chester before (0%)

Stablemates FANNY LOGAN and Mehdaayih are closely matched on their duel at Yarmouth last season and, while the latter has taken a more marked step forward since, the former is taken to the reverse the form here given she's less exposed and crying out for this trip on pedigree. Secret Thoughts' reappearance form looks strong, so she's an obvious danger if she gets home.

The Racing Horse Verdict

The Frankel filly has progressed with each run to date and, although she only had one rival to beat at Chelmsford on return, she did it readily in an impressive time. Excellent claims with more to come and just edges it over stablemate Fanny Logan

3.00: Boodles Diamond Handicap (Class 2) 5f16y

17/17: Winners from stall 7 or lower (100%)
16/17: Won before over this trip (94%)
14/17: Winners came from stalls 1-4 (82%)
13/17: Carried 8st 11lbs or less (76%)
11/17: Ran before that season (65%)
10/17: Favourites that finished in the top three (59%)
..7/17: Returned a double-figure price (41%)
..7/17: Won at Chester before (41%)
..3/17: Won last race (18%)
..2/17: Winning favourites (12%)

The last 11 winners returned 12/1 or shorter in the betting

TOP BREEZE and Leodis Dream are both progressive and could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter promises to be suited by the contours of this track but so should Top Breeze, who made every post a winning one in a competitive Newmarket handicap on his turf debut and has the plum draw. Also well-drawn, Angel Alexander will be a threat if fully tuned-up and Society Queen also merits respect.

The Racing Horse Verdict

1 SHE CAN BOOGIE 9/1 (3rd)  2 SOCIETY QUEEN 8/1  3 YOLO AGAIN 14/1

Enjoyed a productive 2yo campaign, winning 3 times, and proved her effectiveness at this track (form figures here read 213). Needs to improve to take this on reappearance but that could happen and especially at the price!

3.35: MBNA Chester Vase Stakes (Group 3) 1m4f ITV

16/17: Returned 9/1 or shorter in the betting (94%)
15/17: Finished third or better last time out (88%)
14/17: Had a previous run that season (82%)
13/17: Favourites that finished 1 or 2 in this race (76%)
12/17: Went onto finish 7 or better in the Epsom Derby (71%)
..9/17: Didn’t win their previous race (53%)
..9/17: Came from stalls 1 or 2 ( (53%)
..8/17: Winning favourites (47%)
..8/17: Trained by Aidan O’Brien (5 of last 6 winners) (47%)
..7/17: Ridden by Ryan Moore (5 of last 6 winners) (41%)
..2/17: Trained by Sir Michael Stoute (12%)
..1/17: Went onto win the Epsom Derby winner (6%)

The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 11/2

NORWAY's full brother Ruler of The World landed this en route to Derby success and, given Aidan O'Brien has just landed a Guineas double with horses making their seasonal return, it's safe to assume this talented son of Galileo will be ready to do himself justice here. He's preferred to impressive Newbury scorer King Ottokar, with Technician also firmly on the radar.

The Racing Horse Verdict

Both wins from King Ottokar was on soft at Newbury and the forecast rain will help regarding optimum ground conditions. Much improved and looks a great each way chance.
