Effective over this intermediate trip

Legends Gold has won two hurdle races and a point-to-point from 2m to 3m on good and soft ground. Won on her latest outing in a hurdle race when the 1/2 favourite at Bangor-on-Dee over 2m 4f on soft ground earlier this month, beating Takingitallin by 5l. She was coming back from a 171-day break, and was clearly the one to beat on the book despite her 7lb penalty. She was given a confident ride in a prominent pitch by her jockey Aidan Coleman, a significant booking for the Curtis yard. She took complete control from two out and proved even more effective over an intermediate trip on soft ground. She should remain competitive in decent handicaps.

More to come - Aidan Coleman

After her win at Stratford in a Class 4 Handicap in April jockey Aidan Coleman told us: "Legends Gold is a very straightforward mare and has been running consistently well. She was down in grade here and handled the drop in trip - there should be more fun to be had with her hopefully." Today she goes in search of the hat-trick.

Trainer form

Rebecca Curtis is in the process of rebuilding her training career after domestic issues and it is our belief she will get there. Her national average is 15% but she is better than that. It is worth looking at her recent figures:

October: 4 winners from 11 for 36% (+5.25)
September: 2 winners from 2 for 100% (+5.38)
August: 2 winners from 2 for 100% (+1.35)
Total: 8 winners from 15 for 53% (+11.98)

At Ludlow she records 17 winners from 92 for 18% and when Aidan Coleman rides for her they score 11-50 for 22% (+12.03).

Of her rivals

Shantou Sunset opened her account on her final start for Chris Down in a Fontwell bumper and now switches to hurdles on her stable debut for Philip Hobbs. The trainer only received this horse last month so could be on a fact-finding exercise so Redgridge Gold looks the main danger. Switching from bumpers to timber, she is interesting on her first outing since wind surgery.

Timeform

Rebecca Curtis takes the opportunity to get LEGENDS GOLD out again before she loses her novice status at the end of the month and she has to be considered the one to beat, although it certainly wouldn't be a surprise if bumper-winners Redbridge Gold and Shantou Sunset proved capable of giving her something to think about.

Value

Redbridge Gold is the danger and some serious money is coming for her but she might need the run after a break of 229 days so our 8/11 looks to be on the right side of perceived value though it looks as though she will start bigger. All our boxes have been ticked and it would be safe and fair to assume our Pacafi would have come on a touch since her seasonal reappearance.
