Favourites in non-handicaps racing over fences produce an amazing 60% winning strike rate whilst those over hurdles produce 47%. Consequently, favourites over fences in handicaps show just 17%. Unless we have a good reason or value opposing favourites in non-handicap races at Ascot looks a daft thing to do, the numbers are hard to ignore!
