The Racing Horse Composite: (50)

Main danger: Lawahed 2/1

Placed in both starts. Beaten 2 1/4l by King Leonidas when second of 10 as the 5/6fav on his latest outing over this course and distance on good ground earlier this month. He is a sixth foal and half-brother to winners Thunder Snow (6f-1m2f inc 2yo/Gr 1 turf/dirt; 123) Always Smile (6f-8.6f inc at 2/AW; 116), Ihtimal (7f-9.5f inc 2yo Gr 2; 113), Winter Lightning (UAE 7f/1m; 106) & First Victory (7f 2yo inc Gr 3; 105). Dam is a1m1f winner. Likely to stay further.

Ran very well in both starts to date

Eastern World has twice failed to land the odds at 5/6 and 10/11 and now favourite again at around even money, but has been unfortunate to bump into smart rivals. The Dubawi colt has clearly run well in both starts especially here three weeks ago when coming up against subsequent Jersey Stakes favourite King Leonidas. He should be winning this but has Lawahed to beat and the filly looks the danger.

Trainer and Jockey form

We have talked loads about Charlie Appleby and his horses at Newmarket and hope this message has not been lost or forgotten.

His figures at the course defy belief especially given its inherent nature. Since he started training he shows 80-302 for 26%  (+81.14) which is his second favourite racecourse in the UK including the AW tracks where it is much easier to rack up winners! He has now hit top form. The last 14 days show 9-34 for 26% but now 6-11 for 55% for the last week.

The results above means William Buick is in the groove also and June now shows him 20-83 for 24% (+15.64) and from his last six runners has scored 4 winners for 67%. His last 20 rides has seen him win 7 times for 35%.

 Of his rivals

Lawahed displayed plenty of promise when finishing second on her debut over 7f here and she is the main threat. Any market support for Kettle Hill or Sacre Bleu should be noted, given that they are both from successful families. Warning Shot and Jalwan have ability but will find easier opportunities than that of today.

EASTERN WORLD brings a useful level of ability to the table despite suffering a brace of odds-on reversals so far and he looks the way to go, for all Lawahed shaped with plenty of promise on debut here 3 weeks ago.

We could not get on at the 5/4 supposedly offered but happy to take the even money given this could be between just two horses, our colt versus a promising filly. We have the form edge also and the trainer has hit form with a vengeance!
