FLY MISS HELEN looked a really exciting prospect when quickening clear impressively to land a gamble on debut at Newbury. This longer trip is sure to suit and she can take the step up in class in her stride. There could be plenty more to come also from Danilova, who won comfortably over C&D last week, while Setarhe and Dubai Fountain are big players representing the Sandown Star Stakes form.

The Racing Horse Verdict:

1 DANILOVA 4/1 (6th)  2 Fly Miss Helen 7/4 (PU)  3 Dubai Fountain 4/1 (2nd)

Danilova is related to several good winners for Godolphin and looked very professional when easily landing a course and distance fillies' novice with plenty in hand under this rider last week. There is more to come from her and she looks a fabulous each-way bet to nothing. Charlie Appleby told us: "We are turning out Danilova quite quickly but she has come out of her last run in good order and has two good runs over this course and distance under her belt. She will need to improve again with the step up to this grade but the signs have all been good and we felt that this was a nice opportunity for her."

Jason Weaver

With the longest straight in Britain and just one turn to negotiate in distance races, this is a lovely course to ride. Surprisingly, though, there are one or two ridges, even before the run down into the Dip, and you need to ride them smoothly. The other thing a jockey has to remember is that it’s a long way up that finishing hill - you’ll see plenty caught in the closing stages. Because of the chalk base, it can ride very lively, and the wind direction is vital. Getting cover is so, so important when it’s in your face.
