Wolverhampton AW show a healthy strike rate for winning favourites in non-handicaps at around 44% over the past 5 years. Best age category is currently those 4yo+ where they have won 82-184 for over 45%. Handicap winning favourites mirror the national average, but as you can imagine the older the favourites are in handicaps the worse they perform regarding strike rate and profit to level stakes.

Marshall Plan

There is one Novices Race that attracted our attention and we advised members to look for early pricing where 2/1 was available and secured. Marshall Plan 7.10 looks the one to beat. The dam is a Listed-placed 1m winner (RPR 96) and our nomination was a fair third of six in a 1m2f Lingfield novice stakes in March 2021 when nearest at the finish. This 3yo Golden Horn colt is expected to step massively forward today.

James Doyle

After watching James Doyle riding at Wolverhampton we are not convinced he rides the course as well as his status. His riding last night was underwhelming! His national average is excellent showing 21% but despite riding for powerful stables he shows 117-833 for just 14% and a huge 7% below standard. The statistics tell us he scores at 36% when riding favourites but doubt those figures apply to Wolverhampton - we could be wrong! He rides course and distance winner COURTSIDE 8.10 at 2/1 with a lovely stall barrier, we will watch this ride closely...
