Below are the trainers and jockeys who make up our RACECOURSE TEMPLATE (betting landscape) and promised to make an impact on the Festival, we show form before and during Royal Ascot. In conjunction with our SCOREBOARD it really does give an indication of what is going on and what to expect at the course itself!

2021 ROYAL ASCOT RACECOURSE TEMPLATE (Home Page)

TOP 5 TRAINERS at ASCOT
J Gosden: 41-241 for 17% (-43.10) 4-29 for 14% (+47.28)
R Varian: 25-158 for 16% (-29.97) 0-20 for 0% (-20.00)
A O'Brien: 24-231 for 10% (-97.84) 2-35 for 6% (-30.99)
C Appleby: 22-130 for 17% (-23.05) 2-22 for 9% (-7.50)
W Haggas: 20-159 for 13% (-43.56) 2-12 for 17% (-9.01)
Total: 10-118 for 8% (-20.22)

TOP 5 JOCKEYS at ASCOT
R Moore: 35-226 for 15% (-58.84) 4-33 for 12% (-19.99)
F Dettori: 34-144 for 24% (+25.38) 3-28 for 11% (+2.28)
W Buick: 28-172 for 16% (-4.90) 3-25 for 12% (+56.50)
J Doyle: 23-164 for 14% (-47.34) 1-23 for 4% (-17.00)
J Crowley: 22-210 for 10% (-25.95) 1-17 for 6% (-15.73)
Total: 12-126 for 10% (+6.06)

Our top 5 trainers have won 10 of the 35 races for 28.57% and the jockeys 12 of 35 for 34.29. It is fair to say Aidan O'Brien and Roger Varian had nightmares, who would have thought those two trainers would have registered just 2 winners from 55 runners for 3.64%.

Our RACECOURSE TEMPLATE did show/suggest a poor return for favourites at this course, this is why we use the templates! Please note that not one of these favourites qualified for a Pacafi hence our caution. We had backed the first winning favourite (Palace Pier) at 8/15 a few days before the race and published it to members. Here are the winning favourites over the 5 days and 35 races:

2/7 L L 7/2 L L L L L L 11/10 L L L L 11/8 L L L L L L 13/8 L L L 7/2 L 10/11 5/1jf L 3/1 L L L = 8-35 for 22.86% (-10.04)

As expected, John Gosden won the Trainers League (+47.28) with a bit to spare and his form was emphasised within the Racecourse Template and opening remarks. We told members we were following the rides of Frankie Dettori (+2.28) but shouted the claims of Oisin Murphy as our jockey to watch. We said the following:

  • Oisin Murphy is currently 22-273 for 8% at Ascot, strike rate to RISE, certain to have winners next week! We will be providing OISIN WATCH, stay tuned.
  • We will also follow Frankie Dettori, who will have winners also!
  • Conversely, Richard Hannon is 37-488 for 8% at Ascot, so best ignored!
  • Richard Fahey is worse again 24-458 for 5%.

Oisin Watch

A nominated 33/1 third place in the first race and then an 11/1 winner got the wagon started. He finished first past the post on 6 occasions but lost one in the stewards room so totalled 5-29 for 17.24% and a fantastic level stake profit of +19.50 to SP, we secured much better than that! This profit was his win only returns. So, both our jockeys to follow returned profits and if you add that to our view on John Gosden it provided us with a huge profit over the 5 days!

Of course, after the event there will be many pundits and more saying the prediction was obvious, well the markets to SP did not think so!

We also wrote off Richard Hannon as a serious contender/player and his 0-16 for 0% (-16.00) summed things up. One slight negative to our pre-meeting analysis is we put Richard Fahey into the same category as Hannon but he fluked a 14/1 winner from 12 runners giving him a +3.00 level stake profit.
