• • COURSE: Left handed, undulating. An oval-shaped track, about two miles in extent, with a run-in of five furlongs. While not an out-and-out galloping course, owing to the pronounced undulations, the track puts the emphasis on stamina almost regardless of ground. All races up to a mile are run on the straight course.
  • FAVOURITES IN NON-HANDICAPS: Best performing category albeit from a smaller sample are 3yo winning favourites in non-handicaps which show 26 winners from 50 runners for a big 52% strike rate and a level stake profit to SP of +1.37. 
  • FAVOURITES IN HANDICAPS: Winning favourites in handicaps fare far better than the national average. Winning favourites in both categories over the past 5 years show 174-485 for 36% (-19.69).
  • TRAINERS: Strange that top trainer at the course David Evans only has one runner. Hot trainer Rod Millman has 2 runners so all three are worth a look.
  • SEAN WOODS: Back from racing in Hong Kong, Woods two entries catch the eye, this is his first runners at Chepstow. Woods has a string of around 30 juveniles bought with the purpose of restoring the trainer to the heights he achieved during a 10-year stint in Britain when he saddled over 250 winners including Group 1 success. He is currently 8-61 for 13%. After a massive renovation he is racing out of Jeremy Noseda's old stable.
