FIXTURES
Saturday 30 October 2021

(%): National Average E: Entries R: Rides (): Pertinence
  • FAVOURITES: Winning favourites on this course show 229-688 for 33.28 (-65.56). Winning favourites in non-handicaps perform badly on the Rowley course scoring at 35% so down at around 10% compared to other courses. With the exception of 3yo winning favourites in handicaps 52-147 for 35% (+18.37), all other categories produce mediocre results.
  • TRAINERS: Hot trainers J & T Gosden has 3 runners, William Haggas 5 and Michael Stoute 3 and reasonable to expect winners from this grouping. From our 5-year leader board Mark Johnston has 3 runners and Roger Varian 2.
  • CHARLIE APPLEBY: He excels on both the Newmarket courses and it has long been one of our favourite micro-systems. His Rowley numbers over the past 5 years show: 75-254 for 30% (+43.83) so 2% above his national average. His all-time figures for this course show 104-388 for 27% (+85.50) winning £3,755,050 in prize money - an extraordinary record. He has 5 runners tomorrow.
  • JOCKEYS: William Buick has 5 rides but Ryan Moore has 7, not sure who will be top jockey of the day from those two but one of them will! Hollie has 6 rides but cannot see an obvious winner though NASHWA 1.15 could be her best ride, Oisin Murphy has 3.
  • OWNERS: Godolphin win more races at this course than the next four owners put together 90 v 71. The last 5 years at this course show a 24% strike rate and a level stake profit of +£37.11. They have 5 runners here tomorrow and we can expect a win single at least
  • DID YOU KNOW: Silvestre De Sousa has ridden 99-456 for 22% for £2,569,866 in prize money (-40.76) for Saeed bin Suroor. It is our belief he will ride his 100th winner for the trainer on the AW in the coming couple of weeks, we will keep members informed of any combination news!
  • FINALLY: Kevin Manning is now 0-56 (30 days). The longest losing run in his career was 0-57 which lasted from October 2005 to March 2006. He has no current entries but once again we will keep members posted.
  • All figures correct at 09.17 Wednesday 27 October 2021.

JASON WEAVER - NEWMARKET ROWLEY RACECOURSE

With the longest straight in Britain and just one turn to negotiate in distance races, this is a lovely course to ride. Surprisingly, though, there are one or two ridges, even before the run down into the Dip, and you need to ride them smoothly. The other thing a jockey has to remember is that it’s a long way up that finishing hill - you’ll see plenty caught in the closing stages. Because of the chalk base, it can ride very lively, and the wind direction is vital. Getting cover is so, so important when it’s in your face.
