Trip certain to suit and hard to beat

Candle Of Hope (Foaled 8 March) a half-sister to Youthful who won at 7f, is clearly a highly promising individual. She was 15/2 when stylishly winning a 10-runner novice at Newbury over 6f on good to firm ground on debut 15 days ago, pushed out. The manner of her victory and breeding heavily suggests the 7f will suit, and the Lambourn raider should take a fair bit of stopping despite a 3lb penalty.

Haughty is a twice-raced maiden, stepping up on debut when 2ls second of 8 in novice at Haydock (7f, good) 21 days ago. That form nothing special so she'll almost certainly need to improve again to go one better but has place chances if handling the different ground conditions. Main danger could be Fahari (foaled 20 April) for the Crisford team who receives 3lbs. Similar form in her three starts, all over 7f on good or quicker ground but has a RPR of 84.

 Timeform

  Unless one of the newcomers turns out to be above average this looks to represent a good chance for CANDLE OF HOPE, a first ever Thirsk runner for the Richard Hughes yard, to add to her recent Newbury debut win. Fahari has stepped up a bit with each start and is likely to be in the shake-up again, while Gotta Show Me is the most eyecatching of the debutantes on breeding.

Value

We are not sure if the 5/4 is perceived value, our notepad had asked for 6/4 or 13/8 but the more we thought about the race, the more we thought 5/4 might be on the right side. We do know a newcomer will have to post a RPR of 90+ to win and that is never easy!

Candle Of Hope traded at a high of 11.50 and Betfair SP of 11.50 when winning last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field.
