FAVOURITES: Goodwood is generally and incorrectly regarded as not a good course for favourites given the scrimmaging and trouble in running that occurs there, but that is NOT reflected in our figures. In fact, had you backed every favourite at Goodwood over the past 5 years you would have made a huge profit of +53.13 (214-554).
Non-handicaps show 97-227 for 43% (+5.66) yet winning favourites in handicaps score 117-327 for 36% (+47.47) with the latter showing a strike rate above the national average (32)%. Winning favourites aged 4yo+ have great figures across the board showing 97-224 for 43.30% and a big level stake profit of +61.99.
DAY 1: Favourites won 3 of the 8 races for 38% at prices of 6/4, 7/4 and 5/2 returning a +0.75pt profit so in keeping with our original figures.
DAY 2: Favourites won 5 of the 7 races at prices of 11/4, 10/3, 1/6, 10/3 & 5/6 returning a +8.34 profit
DAY 3: Outright favourites won 3 of the 7 races along with a joint-favourite making it another great day for favourite backers. Prices included 5/6, 6/4, 6/5 and a 7/2jf returning a +2.28 profit
DAY 4: A poor day for favourites just 1 winning at 4/5.
DAY 5: We anticipate at least 2 winning favourites today, so a profit for the week for those following the favourites to level stakes at SP.
TOTAL TO DATE: 13-29 for 44.83% (+6.17)
TRAINERS: The top 5 trainers at the track run 25 horses. Of those trainers William Haggas (23%) is in sparkling form showing 12-38 for 32% over the past 14 days, he runs two and more likely than not will score! At Goodwood, he scores at 22%. Interesting he is 1-7 for the Festival but no winning combination with Tom Marquand.
J & T Gosden (21%), A O'Brien (12%) and M Stoute (20%) have one entry each and on the radar.
JOCKEYS: William Buick is not riding at Goodwood on Saturday, he has 7 rides at Newmarket and win double beckons. From our leader board Jim Crowley (19%) has 3 rides and Tom Marquand (14%) 5. Other jockeys destined to be in the fray include Ryan Moore (18%) who has a full book of 7 rides, whilst Hollie Doyle (14%) has 6.
OWNERS: Godolphin (24%) have just one runner for Saturday in TRAWLERMAN 2.10.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (15%) has 3 runners, they include GOLDEN FLAME 2.10, FOREST FALCON & RAINBOW COLOURS 4.30
Shadwell Estate (22%) are represented by LAASUDOOD 3.55
3.20 CLASS DROPPERS from Group 3 to Class 2: ANNAF (M Appleby), CHIL CHIL (A Balding), GREAT AMBASSADOR (E Walker), METHOD (M Meade), & SAINT LAWRENCE (R Varian)L
BY THE WAY: TRH confirmed to members before Day 1 of the Festival the following: "Goodwood is generally and incorrectly regarded as not a good course for favourites given the scrimmaging and trouble in running that occurs there, but that is NOT reflected in our figures. In fact, had you backed every favourite at Goodwood over the past years you would have made a huge profit of +42.19 (202-532)."
Our point is the one we continually make, take no notice of pundits and the media, better to trust the figures and mathematics. We listen to certain trainers and certain jockeys, but block out all the other media noise!

JASON WEAVER on GOODWOOD
Goodwood’s stewards are surely among the busiest in Britain, as it’s tricky to ride and it’s easy to run into traffic problems, especially on the round course. The bottom turn claims its share of victims, because the ground there runs away from you, while the bend into the home straight is very sharp. You get congestion on the dogleg, too, as normally a fair few are still in contention at that point. On the sprint course, the quickest way home is in a straight line, which means the middle is usually a good spot.
