(%): NATIONAL AVERAGE SAW: Since a winner E: Entries R: Rides

FAVOURITES: Winning favourites at Ffos Las over the past 5 years show 152-443 for 34.31% and a level stake loss of -66.95. The winning strike rate is just above the national average. Best category, albeit from a very small sample, is non-handicap favourites in chase races scoring 9-19 for 47% (+0.71), whilst worst category are handicap favourite in hurdle races scoring 39-144 for just 27% (-39.11).

TRAINERS: Evan Williams (11%) is the top trainer at the course and he has 5 runners tomorrow at this stage. He is likely to have a winner and his entries include SABBATHICAL 1.30, PAGEANT MATERIAL 2.40, KYM EYRE 2.40 (DOUBTFUL), PRIME PRETENDER 4.25 & PUDDLESINTHEPARK 5.00

David Pipe (14%) scores above his national average at Ffos Las and he has 2 entries including MICRONORMOUS 2.05 & LAST QUARTER 3.15

JOCKEYS: Gavin Sheehan catches the eye at this course scoring at 27% which is 10% above his national average. He has no rides for this meeting. Sean Bowen (17%) has 5 rides whilst Adam Wedge (13%) has 3 rides.

OWNERS: None of our top owners at this course have a runner tomorrow.

RED FLAG: With the exception of Nicky Henderson we have some moderate trainer figures to digest at Ffos Las. We note Henderson scores a big 14% above his national average (+23.82) at this course, so we are on red alert when he has a runner here. Interesting that since the win of Constitution Hill he has ran 24 without a winner (4 second places). This losing run must end sooner rather than later and he has plenty of entries coming up over the next few days!

BY THE WAY: Venetia Williams has a national average of 16% and scores 13-66 for 20% (-1.88) at Ffos Las. She has a couple of likely types tomorrow in HOUI CHERIE 2.05 & VALLERES 3.15 but currently 1-37 for just 3% (14 days) and 0-24 over the past 8 days!

Dai Walters & Ffos Las

Our thoughts continue to be with Dai Walters as he recovers from the helicopter crash at Ruthin in Denbighshire. He was the founder of Ffos Las and was of a big help to The Racing Horse in our early days. We post a picture of him with us the day King Charles came to Ffos Las.

I walked the course at Ffos Las on the day it opened for racing and there’s no doubt about it - it’s a beautiful set-up, you can’t help being impressed. I don’t think it gets the backing from some people that it deserves, because all the current jocks - Flat and jumps - say good things about it. The jumping lads reckon the fences are a fair test - not too stiff, but no pushover - and it’s grand to ride. The one worry about it is that the going can become extreme. When it gets properly soft, it can be really hard work - Mick Fitzgerald
