Tahiyra was clear of the remainder when second to Mawj in the 1000 Guineas on her return, her only defeat, and she kept on readily when landing the Irish equivalent at the Curragh from Meditate and Comhra. There is more to come from her and another Group 1 awaits. 

After her defeat in the English 1000 Guineas on soft ground trainer Dermot Weld told us: "If you're seven and a half lengths clear of the third it's a very good Guineas. Tahiyra has run a super race, she is very talented and has a lot of speed, it was just that her speed was nullified slightly by the soft ground. We were about two weeks behind with her which is why I've never won the English 1,000 Guineas, whereas I've won the Irish 1,000 Guineas first time out five times. She's run massive in what they say is a good time. We'll have a look at the Irish Guineas but we'll see how she comes out of this before we make any definite decisions. We had another filly, Tarawa, finish second in an Irish Guineas trial at Leopardstown this afternoon and she could also be in the mix."

Next up she duly obliged winning as a Pacafi when returning to the scene of her sparkling Moyglare victory and on the quickest ground she's encountered, went one better than she had in the fillies Classic at Newmarket, finding enough to win a steadily-run contest. The modest gallop was not conducive to the spectacular, but she was able to extricate herself from a pocket without too much fuss and asserted in the last half-furlong. This race will set her up nicely for the Coronation Stakes.

After the race her trainer said: "The plan was to hold on to Tahiyra and ride her for speed. My only concern was whether she would let herself down on the quick ground. We'll see how she comes out of this race and obviously we will think about the Coronation Stakes."  

Pat Downes, manager of owner the Aga Khan’s Irish Studs confirmed: "We are very happy with out filly and all has been very well since the Irish Guineas. We are really happy with her. She is doing very well and is a very good place and is ready to go!"

Timeform

  TAHIYRA is the class act here and likely has an even bigger performance in her so she's very hard to get away from. Queen For You was edged out by Sounds of Heaven at York but can improve past her and could be the danger as she attempts to emulate her dam, who won this in 2012.

Value

The 8/13 looks north of perceived value and we are not expecting her to be beaten, and all the better if there is fast pace.
