CHEPSTOW CONFIGURATION: Left handed, undulating. Oval-shaped track, about two miles in extent, with a run-in of 5 furlongs. All races at up to a mile are run on the straight course. While not an out-and-out galloping course, owing to the pronounced undulations, the track puts the emphasis on stamina almost regardless of ground.

FAVOURITES: It's official, Chepstow is a punter-friendly racecourse and we have the receipts. Over the past 5 years winning favourites at the course show 159-426 for 37.32% so around +5% above the national average. Best category for winning strike rate are 3yo winning favourites in non-handicaps who show 22-43 for 51% (-5.27).  Worst category for strike rate are 4yo winning favourites in handicaps showing 13-40 for 33% (-6.47).

TRAINERS: Leading trainer John O'Shea trains at 9%, a figure not conducive to our style of betting, but he scores 13% at Chepstow. He has 5 runners including PUNCHBOWL FLYER and SOME NIGHTMARE 2.30, TRULY GLAMOROUS 3.00, LETTER OF THE LAW 4.10 & ROMANOVICH 4.45

Archie Watson (14%) sends SUMMERTIMEBLUES 5.15 to Chepstow on a recovery mission, to a course he scores at 25%. Should go close.

Rod Millman (12%) has 3 runners including SILENT FLAME 2.30, WHITE ISLAND 3.35 & ARJAD 4.10. Worth reminding Chepstow readers he scores 7-37 for 19% with his 2yos this year and +25.22 to level stakes. In reference to the 2yo filly White Island we note the jockey William Carson has not even rode a place from 9 rides for Millman. so the jockey booking doesn't shout win! The paddock will tell us more...

Backing all 3 blind over the past 5 years yields 64-302 for 21% and a level stake profit of +£14.27. Saffie Osborne drew a blank from her 7 Racing League rides at the last meeting, which hampered our figures.

OWNERS: Only Cross Racing Club of our top owners have a runner tomorrow in the 8yo C&D winner PUNCHBOWL FLYER to be ridden by Jay Mackay (6%).

RED FLAG: Hollie Doyle (14%) has 5 rides tomorrow including MISS AYALA 3.00, CLOUDBUSTER 3.35, STORMY LADY 4.10, BELLA TESLINA 4.45 & SUMMERTIME BLUES 5.15. We noted she had a number of rides at Beverly lined up, but has decided to come here instead. The fact she is riding at Ffos Las today might have influenced the decision somewhat. But, it could be she needs to win on the well bred sort SUMMERTIMEBLUES for Archie Watson. The 3yo Pinatubo gelding was expected to win at Windsor in July when backed into the 7/4 favourite under William Cox but finished second.

He opened up at 7/2 that day and 4/1 was available, so connections took a hit! This result was compounded next time out, when under Hollie he was backed again from 5/2 into 13/8 but finished second again! One can only imagine the disappointment and now he has to beat 2 last time out winners. The feeling is there is more in the locker and if we get a price, likely to place a win bet with a stake saver on PURE ARTISTRY, so opposing Lima Sierra. He is also entered up at Windsor on Monday.
