CONFIGURATION: A narrow, left-handed, oval track, about 13f in extent, with a run-in of 5 furlongs. There is a straight mile course. Apart from a slight fall just before the run-in, the track is perfectly flat, with sharpish bends.

FAVOURITES: Winning favourites at Yarmouth score 259-767 for 33.77% and a level stake loss of -£98.48 to a £1 stake. Winning favourites in non-handicaps score at 40% whilst handicap favourites score at 31% for a 9% differential. Best category are 3yo winning favourites in non-handicaps showing 45-88 for 51% (+2.96). Worst category are 4yo+ winning favourites in handicaps scoring 80-285 for 28% (-50.92) so a massive differential of 23%.

TRAINERS: William Haggas (23%) has been in brilliant form recently and he has 3 runners, and almost certain of another winner from FINE ART DEALER & DIVISION 2.25 and RANEENN 5.30

J & T Gosden (21%) has a real chance of a winner from 4 entries and they include NOVA CENTAURI 3.25, LIGHTNING THUNDER 3.25, PALMARIAN 3.55 & KEBLE SPIRIT 4.30

JOCKEYS: The jockey to follow at this meeting is the in form James Doyle (19%) and he has 3 quality rides and every chance of a win double. His rides are DIVISION 2.25, ESPONA BAY 2.55 & NOVA CENTAURI 3.25.

Top jockey at the track William Buick (23%), rides the course particularly well scoring at 26% so +3% above his national average. He has 5 rides including PAROLE OFFICER 2.55, LIGHTNING THUNDER 3.25, PALMARIAN 3.55, KEBLE SPIRIT 4.30 & CUBAN LADY 5.30. Stop at a winner?

Tom Marquand (15%) has 6 rides though we cannot see a banker! His rides include: FINE ART DEALER 2.25, UP THE AGENDA 2.55, BLUE ECLIPSE 3.55, LORDSBRIDGE BLU 4.30, RHYME DUST 5.00 & RANEENN 5.30. Likely to go close but not winning?

OWNERS: Four of the top 5 owners have runners and as always they should be processed, given their big strike rates at this course.

The ground has scuppered our plans for this meeting, so we are standing down! At one stage we were looking at 3 possibilities, including Nova Centauri 3.25, Clermont Ferrand 4.30 (each way) and Cuban Lady 5.30, but the soft ground is not conducive or close to optimum ground for their success. Our preparation for this meeting was for good to soft ground, but it could be tacky today as the sunny intervals and fresh breeze changes the nature of the racing surface. They are racing here for the next 3 days and the ground has clearly compromised our plans and template. Just watching today...

If the recent relaying work at Yarmouth restores the course to what it used to be, which is obviously the idea, it could be one of the best galloping tracks in Britain. Yes, it had developed ridges, hence the changes they’ve made, but it’s a lovely fair course. The home straight is big and long, giving jockeys plenty of time from the turn in, and, if it’s going to be even flatter than of old when the relaying is complete, you might just get a few hard-luck stories tight on the far rail. Otherwise, it’s beautiful to ride - Jason Weaver.
