Green on debut yet so nearly won

Sounds Victorius is a once-raced maiden and 5/2 when second of 5 in bumper at Leopardstown over 2m on NH debut 52 days ago running green on heavy ground. The 4yo carried 12st that day, so with Jody Townend riding him at 8st 11lb there was over 3st of lead in the saddle when racing against Harry Swan who claimed 5lb, so net she was 10lbs wrong with the winner. Had Patrick Mullins been riding the horse he would have surely won. He sets a solid standard for this race with the promise of lots more to come so boasting excellent claims! Jody Townend now rides the stable's second string In At The Park.

Trainer and Jockey Form

Willie Mullins has 10 runners at Punchestown tomorrow and is most likely to register a win treble or a win double at least. At the course he scores 146-556 for 26% over the past 5 years and 543 winners all-time. When son Patrick rides for him they show a massive 185-501 for 37% (-76.43) and 658-1934 for 34% all-time, and of those losers 380 have finished second, meaning 1038-1934 for 53.67% finish in the first two. Their combination figure in all-time NHF Races show 538-1501 for 36% the biggest combination figure anywhere in the UK & Ireland.

Contenders

Masterboy Davis looks the main danger. He is an €85,000 3yo Doctor Dino gelding and a half-brother to the fairly useful French hurdler Lindy Hop Davis. He was a runner-up in sole start in points on 10 December so of interest on Rules debut.

Timeform View

SOUNDS VICTORIUS showed signs of inexperience when second at Leopardstown 52 days ago and that form sets the bar pretty high, so he gets the nod over point recruit Masterboy Davis. Inn At The Park, a stablemate of the selection, also has potential.

Perceived Value

TRH cannot know for sure what perceived value is about the Pacafi given we have not seen the main rival race. Our experience tells us the price is north of perceived value and would not be offering 4/6 about the Pacafi. Has the look of a 4/7 winning favourite...

PACAFI RESULTS

It is impossible to measure or be scientific about the importance of the role of the jockey in a particular race. We do know they are the conduit from the trainer and the horse's preparation, it is their skill-set and split-second decision-making that heavily contributes to the result of a race (and any consequent profit and loss to the bettor). Every jockey booking ever made has a negative or positive impact or quality quotient, and this allegorical number varies from day to day and course to course. It is difficult, but this help versus hinder estimate must somehow be factored-in when profiling a race.
