Inanna is a €75,000 half-sister to a French/US winner around 1m. She got loose before her racecourse debut and cantered alone to the start and whilst appearing not to use up massive nervous energy there is no knowing how much how much of her edge was subsequently lost, it could not have helped any horse and especially an unraced 2yo filly!
She then displayed a most willing attitude over tomorrow's course and distance to get up very late on and overturn the 8/11 odds-on John Gosden favourite. She'll have to saddle a 7lb penalty for that success but with obvious scope for improvement, it should not stop her following up, especially if we upgrade that debut win and she competes again against her own sex. Her debut win was in a Class 4 Fillies' Novice and tomorrow she drops a grade and races in a Class 5 Fillies' Novice. This race looks a fair bit weaker.
After the race trainer Sean Woods told us: "Inanna is a very nice filly. It was a nice fair track and we decided to send her up there because she had time to organiser herself. She could drop back, she is pretty versatile, but they didn't go much of a gallop. We like her at home and we will see how she comes out of the race. We have a nice bunch of horses, we have kept the numbers down, but hopefully the two-year-olds will be nice."
Inanna has nothing by the way of fancy entries at the time of writing, but jockey Ben Curtis admitted that he wouldn’t be surprised if the filly took a notable step forward from this opening run.
He told us: “To be honest once the stalls opened it was pretty straightforward, she was a bit calmer on the ride down. She didn’t take any riding up mind as she dropped me and then went on her own! It was very straightforward in the race though and she’s got a lovely attitude. She’s lovely to look at and was just a bit caught back when I got on her and it took her a bit to get used to the racing saddle. Other than that, she should take a big step forward from this."
Disputed ought to remain competitive having finished third on each of her two starts, while Heavenly Breath must be considered for a yard that are perfectly capable with their juveniles.
INANNA was well prepared by his in-form handler to make a wining debut over C&D in May and, kept to her own sex, is fancied to successfully concede weight all round. There's The Door will have derived plenty from her Newbury run but a bigger threat may emerge in the shape of debutante Heavenly Breath.
The 6/4 looks nicely north of perceived value, we would have taken 5/4. She is certain to improve from her debut.
Inanna traded at a high of 95.00 and Betfair SP of 14.50 when winning last time, a race in which it raced prominently.
