Fixtures

FAVOURITES: Winning favourites at Newbury over the past 5 years show 194-605 for 32% and a level stake loss of -102.53 to SP. Best category is the 4yo+ favourites in non-handicaps scoring 21-40 for 53% (+11.03), the other 5 categories show a loss.

TRAINERS: Our top 5 trainers at the course all have runners and one imagines winners coming from these 19 entries. Roger Varian (20%) does not do that well at Newbury by his standards, and shows 20-145 for 14% so 6% below his national average, but he runs 6 today and hard to see him not involved in proceedings! By the way this year he shows just 1-20 for 5% at the course so we are entitled to ask - does he school some of his runners there?

Members will know we are not a fan of the Richard Hannon (11%) modus operandi and we believe, given his ammunition, he massively underperforms! We rarely get involved with runners. He is currently 2-49 for 4% and 0-19 over the past 6 days. He has 6 runners today and 2-55 beckons?

Please note J &T Gosden totals are combined with those of John Gosden for a 5 year figure, the same applies to H & R Charlton and Roger Charlton).

JOCKEYS: Only Tom Marquand (14%) from our leader board has an interest tomorrow and he has 7 rides. His figures suggest he is not in great form currently show just 3-49 for 6% in the past 14 days. Whilst he does not appear to have a banker his rides look competitive and we expect him to nick one! Worth pointing out the jockey is 13-50 for 26% (+26.78) at the course this year. Stop at a winner?

HOT JOCKEYS: In the last month or so Gina Mangan (9%) shows 9-43 for 21% (+39.50) and has 1 ride, whilst Harry Burns (10%) records 6-19 for 32% (+12.75) and has 2 rides

COLD LIST JOCKEYS: Neil Callan (13%) is currently 0-37 and has 5 rides (4 at huge prices) and Louis Steward (11%) 0-37 and he has 5 rides also.

OWNERS: Godophin (24%) are the top owners at the course, they have 6 runners on Saturday including: DUBAI FUTURE, SISKANY & KEMARI 1.40, WARREN POINT, MARCHING ARMY & OTTOMAN FLEET 3.25, so 3 horses in each of 2 races.

Shadwell Estate (23%) have just one runner in MUKTAMIL 4.00

BY THE WAY: Our horse WURLITZER has an entry on Thursday at Southwell AW where we will be producing a comprehensive Racecourse Template. He has been working particularly well at home and is expected to wear blinkers for the first time. No excuses this time...

JASON WEAVER - NEWBURY RACECOURSE

There aren’t many fairer courses than Newbury, which is big and galloping, but, probably due to the woodland on the far side, it can sometimes ride a good bit softer down the back straight than it does in the home straight. There’s very little draw bias on the straight track and there’s no wonder so many trainers want to send their classy horses there. The one tricky start is the one up in the spur (the round 1m) and that can prove draw-dependent. Otherwise, you get very few hard-luck stories at Newbury.
