FIXTURES
Saturday 15 April 2023
Tuesday 25 April 2023
Tuesday 2 May 2023
COURSE: A narrow, left-handed, oval track, about 13f in extent, with a run-in of 5 furlongs. There is a straight mile course. Apart from a slight fall just before the run-in, the track is perfectly flat, with sharpish bends. The straight was levelled to remove surface undulations and then resurfaced in 2015.
FAVOURITES: Winning favourites at Yarmouth over the past 5 years show 299-783 for 38.19% and a level stake loss of -£15.77 to a £1 stake. Winning favourites in non-handicaps score 92-207 for 44% (-£11.80) whilst winning favourites in handicaps score 207-576 for 36% (-£3.97) so an 8% differential. Best category for winning strike rate is clearly the 3yo winning favourites in non-handicaps who have recorded 40-78 for a massive 52% and a level stake profit of +£4.49, But, the figures are punter friendly towards juveniles in handicaps also, they score 116-293 for a near 40% strike rate and a profit of +£15.44. These figures should be acknowledged.
TRAINERS: There are 4 hot trainers of interest with runners tomorrow, they are Robert Cowell, Gary Moore, William Haggas and Archie Watson and we can expect a winner from this quartet from their 7 runners.
COLD LIST TRAINER: Newmarket trainer Chris Dwyer (16%) is on a bit of a losing run and now 0-34 over a period of 203 days. Yarmouth is the trainer's favourite course scoring 9-45 for 20%, and he has just the one entry in TWAYBLADE 3.35. Regarding trainers and losing runs we take to more notice of them when those involved have a higher national average and 16% is a high national average.
JOCKEYS: None of our top 5 jockeys at the course have rides here tomorrow so an opportunity for those less able and particularly our younger jockeys.
HOT JOCKEYS: There are three hot jockeys with rides tomorrow and they are Harry Davies (15%), Hector Crouch (13%) and Billy Loughnane (21%). One imagines winners coming from this trio and an angle into the meeting.
OWNERS: None of the top owners have a runner at Yarmouth tomorrow.
RED FLAG: BILLY LOUGHNANE (21%) has 5 rides tomorrow, and it will be hard to keep him out of the winner's enclosure. His career to date shows tremendous figures of 44-207 for 21% and a level stake profit of +£48.31 to SP. Tomorrow he rides at Yarmouth for the first time and his rides include DAPHNE MAY 2.05. LIBRA TIGER 3.20, HARRY WITH STYLE, EL ROYALE & OSTILIO 5.00.
AW:
Wolverhampton AW 18-72 25% +47.70
Lingfield AW 9-38 24% +23.54
Newcastle AW 7-22 32% -0.85
Kempton AW 3-19 16% +0.53
Chelmsford AW 2-5 40% +5.91
Southwell (A.W) 2 39 5% -34.53
TURF:
Doncaster 2-7 29% +6.50
Musselburgh 1-3 33% +1.50
Nottingham 0-1 0% -1.00
Riding winners on the AW surface in winter is one thing, but replicating success on Turf is another. Early days yet, but this excellent young jockey has only had 11 rides on turf yet rode 3 winners. Tomorrow he rides Yarmouth for the first time, it will be interesting to see how he copes with this track.
PACAFI: Just to confirm, we have just the one Pacafi for Saturday in DUBAI DAWN 6.30 who looks a good thing given a good paddock and trip to post.
BY THE WAY: Our next Racecourse Template will be Kempton on Monday but we will cover both Newmarket and Southwell AW on Tuesday so a busy start to the week for us!

JASON WEAVER on YARMOUTH
If the recent relaying work at Yarmouth restores the course to what it used to be, which is obviously the idea, it could be one of the best galloping tracks in Britain. Yes, it had developed ridges, hence the changes they’ve made, but it’s a lovely fair course. The home straight is big and long, giving jockeys plenty of time from the turn in, and, if it’s going to be even flatter than of old when the relaying is complete, you might just get a few hard-luck stories tight on the far rail. Otherwise, it’s beautiful to ride.
