Mister Pink is a very short price and some members will balk at this nomination and we understand that, but we will try to make a case for why we have nominated.

Sets strong standard

Mister Pink is a homebred gelding whose dam has produced two bumper winners and a maiden hurdle winner for Willie Mullins. He did not travel particularly well at Fairyhouse running green but he stuck at it to take the runner-up spot showing he has the attitude for the NH game. With this experience in the bank he sets a very strong standard on that debut run in February. The front three pulled well clear of the remainder and the third horse boosted the form when winning on his next start. Willie Mullins Beat Hollow gelding did not enjoy the clearest of passages during the race so may well have been closer with a trouble free run. The winner is considered useful.

This form looks particularly strong in the context of this race and it will be a shock if the Pacafi is beaten given any racing scenario. The conditions and terms of the race look perfect. Tomas O Maille has ran 5 times under rules and given a RPR of 101 whilst Mister Pink has a RPR of 118 after his debut run which shows how much he has in hand of that rival!

Trainer and Jockey Form

Willie Mullins has a national average of 28% and is in sublime form, each of his runners are hard to oppose such is his dominance in Irish Racing. We look at his outstanding results this season and wonder how he achieves this:

At Ballinrobe the trainer shows 19-63 for 30% over the past 5 years and 8-19 for 42% with his NHF runners at this course. This season he shows 50-165 for 30% with NHF runners across the board. When his son Patrick combines with the trainer they score 156-431 for 36% across the board and in NHF Races 124-328 for 38%. Patrick Mullins shows racing figures of 187-560 for 33% over the past 5-years and from those 152-448 for 34% are in NHF Races. Astonishing figures! The trainer runs two at Ballinrobe tomorrow and could record a win double.

Contenders

The locally trained Tomas O Maille is a consistent gelding who has been placed on his last three runs. The 6yo needs to improve massively if he is to beat the Mullins horse but looks place material again. Derek O'Connor is a significant booking on the unraced Peter Fahey-trained gelding Soleil Couchant. Any market support for the son of Champs Elysees should be noted, but once again for forecasts and place purposes.

Timeform View 

MISTER PINK should have learnt plenty from his encouraging Fairyhouse debut and can get off the mark in the finale. Tomas O Maille looks the likeliest danger on form whilst Soleil Couchant appeals most of the newcomers.  

Value 

The 1/3 is a very short price - does it contain value? We think it does and the 5yo Beat  Hollow gelding is likely to have an SP nearer to 2/9. We have taken the prices of 1.47 to 1.61 on the Betfair Exchange and delighted. On a personal note we have staked 2pts win but advise 1pt for members following the advice.
