Race 1: ALAN PLANT MEMORIAL TROPHY FOR C CLASS DRIVERS
The Alan Plant Memorial has been the trophy to win for C Class Drivers for at least 25 years.
Race 2: CHRIS & MURIEL JENKINS MEMORIAL MEMBERS HANDICAP
The Chris & Muriel Jenkins Memorial sponsored by Stella Havard is in memory of her parents. Her father died too soon of kidney cancer the day before this fixture two years ago. Stella shaved her head for Macmillan's 'Brave The Shave' in his memory and readily acknowledges how Macmillan helped her through a very tough time. There will be a collection bucket with her on Sunday should anyone wish to donate.
Race 3: CHRISTINE HAMMOND MEMORIAL MAIDEN MILE - DIV 1
Kindly sponsored by John Hammond. The Christine Hammond Memorial trophy will be presented to the fastest Maiden winner.
Race 4: OUTLAW MEMORIAL 1¼ MILE FREE FOR ALL
The Outlaw Memorial is kindly sponsored by Jackie Maguire, in memory of a truly great racehorse, who was owned and trained by her partner, Wesley Jones. Outlaw won literally dozens of races throughout a long career and raced until he was 15yo before 'retiring' as a riding and exhibition horse. The pinnacle of his harness racing career was winning the Welsh Classic Final as a 10yo in 1992.
Race 5: CHRISTINE HAMMOND MEMORIAL MAIDEN MILE - DIV 2
Kindly sponsored by John Hammond. The Christine Hammond Memorial trophy will be presented to the fastest Maiden winner.
Race 6: JOHN HARRIS & DAI ARCH NOVICE PACE
This race has been dedicated to these long-standing judges.
Race 7: WALES AND WEST PACING SERIES
Kindly sponsored by the Wellfield Stud. The Wales & West Pacing Series is a pilot idea for 2015 to support local racing within the Wales & West area for Gr1–4 horses. The series run 12 races from May to September at a range of grass and hard track fixtures in the Wales & West area. The series will offer horses the opportunity to run for a 1st prize of £400.
Race 8: SHEILA BAKER GRADE 1 PACE
Dedicated to Sheila Baker by her daughter Kath, for the all the help she gives.
Race 9: WWW.THERACINGHORSE.CO.UK GRADE 1 & 2 HANDICAP PACE
The Racing Horse continues to promote and invite comment on all aspects of horse racing and especially enjoys visiting the Hereford & Borders's Harness Racing Club events.
Race 10: THE YOUNG WILL CHALLENGE TROPHY
The 'Young Will Challenge Trophy' for the top grade pace is kindly sponsored by two great supporters of Allensmore, Andrew and Gill Rees. Young Will was truly homebred in that Andrew and Gill owned both the sire and dam, and he was a Boughrood Classic winner. He has now retired after giving Andrew a lifetime's fun.
Race 11: THANK YOU ALL OFFICIALS GRADE 2 & 3 HANDICAP PACE
A thank you to all the officials for their hard work throughout the season.

TODAY’S TROPHIES include:
The Christine Hammond Memorial (Maiden)
The Chris & Muriel Jenkins Memorial (Members)
The Outlaw Memorial Perpetual (plus a replica) (FFA)
The Alan Plant Memorial (‘C’ Class Drivers)
The Young Will Challenge Trophy (Top Grade Pace)

Junior Sulky

Please remember there will be a junior sulky pony race - it's how many of our young drivers started out! This race is sponsored by Mac McArthur the medic at the meeting. Dylan Connors pictured.

Welcome to the final 2015 H&BHRC meeting at the Lawrence family’s wonderful Allensmore circuit. So many 'unsung heroes' have made these competitive meetings possible – all officials give their services free so that racing can continue in 'the manner to which we have become accustomed.'

THANK YOU ALL!

Today there are several poignant pieces of silverware on offer –

The Christine Hammond Memorial (Maiden),

The Chris & Muriel Jenkins Memorial (Members),

The Outlaw Memorial (Free For All),

The Alan Plant Memorial (‘C’ Class Drivers)

The Young Will Challenge Trophy (Top Grade Pace).

These trophies mean so much to those who have offered them and I thank them, and all who have sponsored during the season. Without the kindness of all the people I have mentioned so far, racing would not happen. Club members work tirelessly all year to provide racing - so please help us out by buying a duck (£1 each) for the DUCK-OUT-OF-WATER race today, a raffle ticket, or buy something from our Produce/White Elephant stall near the secretary’s trailer.

And don’t go thinking it’s all over – FAR FROM IT!

York Raceway’s PACT Charity weekend or Amman Valley (Sunday 16th), then BOUGHROOD (23rd) bring you top class racing, and then it’s the 3-day Welsh Classic meeting at TREGARON on 28th, 29th & 30th – heart-stoppingly high class action! If you want more details about the sport there are Fact Sheets in the Secretary’s trailer or look at www.bhrc.org

Meanwhile, ENJOY today’s racing – we WANT you too!

The Racing Horse is grateful to Lee Price who has updated the standings in the Wales and West Pacing Series. He says: With 8 of the 12 races completed things at the top are looking interesting.
.
Of the 25 horses entered 21 have run in the series. Of those that have run 18 have been in the money and there has been six different winners.
.
With the top horse Rhyds Artist being balloted out of last weekends race it gave an opportunity to Wellfield Dylan and Chinatown Colt to close the gap. Wellfield Dylan managed 3rd gaining him 2 points whilst Chinatown Colt finished 4th gaining him 1 point. Latest positions show:
.
Rhyds Artist - 18 points
Wellfield Dylan - 18 points
Chinatown Colt - 17 points
.
As with the equine division Mike O'Mahony could not add to his tally so it allowed Sarah Allen to edge into a 1 point lead at the top:
.
Sarah Allen - 9 points
Mike O' Mahony - 8 points
Mike Evans - 7 points
.
This weeks race has only 6 runners and looks to be a match off between previous winners Rhyds Artist, Wellfield Dylan and Masquerade Avenue. The draw will be important and with Rhyds Artist drawing the 5 hole he will be looking to get a lead on Dylan who will sit in 6 on the 2nd line.
.
It was nice to see Brywins Velvet back after a few weeks off, she could run a good race. After this week the next leg of the series will be at Amman Valley on the 16th August, before we take a break to take in the 3 premier meetings in the area at this time of the year which include:
.
Boughrood - 23rd August
Tregaron - 28th, 29th & 30th August
Lampeter - 6th Sept

The Racing Horse is proud and excited to team up with BLUE INFINITY to bring you some fantastic photos when we post our review of the meeting on Monday 10th August 2015. Dust bowl

As we post this blog the weather looks set fair for the weekend with very little rain promised - if any...

The Racing Horse has thoroughly enjoyed this season's Allensmore Experience. The lovely atmosphere created is testament to the teamwork and wonderful organisation of those involved. We appreciate it is not easy to stage these meetings and can only imagine the tribulations behind the scenes. Chair Stella Havard always praises those involved in the unpaid work and is right to do so. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thanks to you all, especially Stella and we plan to assist throughout the winter in any way we can before resuming again next year.

21st
