Listed class in bumpers

Enrilo is a good looking type who looked talented when landing 2 of his 3 bumper outings and a sound fourth place in a Listed race at Ascot when unlucky in running. He is a half-brother to 2m1f chase and 2m2f hurdle winner Colere Noir and just needs to transfer the bumper form to hurdles knowing he has been well schooled.

Nice horse for the future - Paul Nicholls

Because of our stable visits we know the trainer likes this one. This time last year he won at Worcester where he ran green in front, jinked near the paddock exit, but showed an engine and looking a nice prospect. He had been taken out at Newton Abbot when the ground turned heavy so a good ground horse. After the race the trainer told us: "Enrilo is a big baby and a nice horse for the future. He's been schooled over hurdles so that's an option but we'll be in no hurry with him."

Will stay every inch of today's trip

On his third and final race at Kempton in February he was backed heavily to win under a penalty and having stayed on well at Ascot his rider made plenty of use of him on this sharper track, although he briefly lost his pitch half a mile out as they rounded the home turn. However, he was very gutsy on the run-in, firstly regaining the lead and then seeing off two persistent challengers, ultimately with relative ease. He has plenty of improvement in him as he still looked green, so plenty of encouragement can be taken from this. Nicholls said: "He will be saved for a novice hurdling campaign in the autumn, with three-mile chases the long-term aim. He is a nice horse, but won't run again this season. He'll go novice hurdling in the autumn and will be a three-mile chaser in time."

Of his rivals

Archimento has to concede 6lb and couldn’t cope with a penalty at Plumpton after justifying favouritism at Fontwell. Thunderstruck was second in bumpers at Sandown and Fontwell last season, starting favourite on both occasions, but may find conditions here quicker than ideal.

Timeform

ENRILO looked an excellent prospect in bumpers, particularly when successful at Kempton (almost took the wrong course) when last seen, so he's hard to oppose now switched to hurdles. Thunderstruck is an expensive winning pointer who shaped well in bumpers, so he's a live danger along with Archimento, the most experienced hurdler in the field.

Value

Obviously we are taking fitness on trust but Enrilo won first time out last season and what we saw on a recent visit suggested he will be forward enough to win this and has optimum conditions. So what is value, not sure but we cannot find a live danger. We had expected to hear the comments of Oliver Sherwood early Thursday morning about his Archimento but that has not happened.
