(%): NATIONAL AVERAGE SAW: Since a win E: Entries R: Rides

WINNING FAVOURITES: Given the amount of poor quality of racing at Wolverhampton, we are continually surprised as to the high strike rates of winning favourites, especially in non-handicap races!

The last 5-year figures show 937-2596 for 36.03% for a level stake loss of -151.26 so about 3% above the national average. Best category for strike rate and profit are 4yo+ in non-handicaps showing 90-183 for 49% (+15.13). Winning non-handicap favourites across the board score 341-750 for 45%. Worst category are 4yo+ in handicaps with 339-1102 for 31% (-101.82).

LEADING COURSE TRAINERS: Tony Carroll who trains just 40 miles from the track, is second top trainer at the course over the past 5 years and has 6 entries. One envisages him going close with one of those runners. Michael Appleby is fourth on our leader board and has 4 runners.

HOT TRAINERS: The last race tomorrow looks competitive and hot trainer James Ferguson has an interest in CRYSTAL SCARLET and one worth a market check.

TRAINER COLD LIST: Dean Ivory (9%) and Tom Ward (10%) find themselves on the cold list. Though decent trainers they are not trainers we are generally interested in.

LEADING COURSE JOCKEYS: Hollie Doyle has 5 rides and almost certain to ride a winner. David Probert, Luke Morris and Jack Mitchell also have rides and will feature strongly at the meeting.

HOT JOCKEYS: Two of our leading jockeys at the course are also on the hot jockey list in David Probert and Jack Mitchell. They are supported by James Doyle who has fantastic 5-years figures at the course scoring at 31% but just 1 ride. Danny Muscutt is currently riding as well as ever and has 2 rides

JOCKEY COLD LIST: The very able Ben Curtis is currently 0-36 and has the 1 ride at the course.

LEADING COURSE OWNERS: Saeed Manana has two runners tomorrow, they are ON REFLECTION 6.30 & PRIORITISE 7.30 and he is more likely to score than not! Power Geneva have an interesting runner in RUBY RED EMPRESS 8.00 trained by Sean Curran. He shows a profit of £86.72 when just one runner at a meeting and James Doyle has been booked to ride. His strike rate at the course is a huge 30% and his only ride!

WOLVERHAMPTON RACECOURSE - JASON WEAVER

Wolverhampton’s 5f, 7f and extended 1m starts can be tricky from a jockey’s point of view, because they’re very much draw-dependent. It’s a big advantage being among the low, left-hand numbers. The 1m 4f start can also be a slight problem, but at least from there you’ve got a longer trip to get sorted out. Nobody went round the inside in the early days and, while I’m not sure it’s a disadvantage to be there now, most jocks still shy away from that rail. It’s a tight course, but well laid-out and very fair.
