TOP OF THE MARKET: Our QUARTERLY REPORT goes into some detail about the top of the market on the Southwell Tapeta and well worth a read before looking at the card. Thursday shows only 3 handicaps on an 8-race card so this will make things interesting! The 8 races will take us up to 194 in total so far and to maintain our 62% strike rate with the first two in the market winning we need at least 5 of the 8 to win. Once again we will playing those numbers...

Michael Appleby is finally up and running at Southwell scoring with a 55/1 win double last Saturday. Our eyes are now drawn to Tony Carroll who is yet to have a winner at this course and surface. He is currently 0-50 and has 3 runners on Thursday. His previous record at Southwell AW showed 52-496 for 10%. David Evans is top trainer at Wolverhampton on the Tapeta but now 0-21 at Southwell.

Charlie Hills (73%) has a runner which must be worth a look and so does Roger Varian, he is 26% with his runners this year and always a big player on the AW surfaces.

David Probert is now top jockey on course and surface, is riding as well as ever and has 5 rides. Luke Morris has 6 rides and Connor Beasley has 3 and there will be winning rides from this group of jockeys.

Trainers and jockeys of interest with runners and rides include:

  • Michael Appleby 5-73 for 7% (-42.84)   6 runners
