 Looks well in

Betting in Class 6 Handicaps and with a trainer carrying a lowly 10% national average is not our preferred option, but we have a 3yo who is a course and distance winner, the best horse in the race, largely progressive and has a good draw in stall 3. The fly in the ointment appears to be Cogsworth and Silvestre De Sousa (stall 1) who is a 10-race maiden but his jockey will be of huge help! Our message to jockey Marco Ghiani is not to take him on early and repeat the ride of Danny Tudhope last time out when sitting off the pace and taking a tow. Southbank is rated 9lbs better than Cogsworth and still looks well treated under a penalty.

Career best last time out

Southbank has been successful twice at 6f on the all-weather. He was a winner at 10/3 over this course and distance on his latest outing producing a career best in the process. His run at Lingfield 20 days earlier has worked out well also. He carries a 6lb penalty for his recent success and with a good exit must be hard to beat!

Timeform Comments

If in the same form as when scoring in tidy fashion over this C&D last week, SOUTHBANK will surely take plenty of stopping under a penalty. Cogsworth could be the one for the forecast, with Justahunch also a strong candidate for minor honours.

Perceived Value

The 6/5 looks north of perceived value, we priced the Pacafi up at around 10/11 if producing something near career best last time out.

Southbank traded at a high of 2.34 and Betfair SP of 4.60 when winning last time, a race in which it raced prominently and travelled strongly early on
