In typical Sir Mark Prescott fashion, his Alerta Roya showed dramatic improvement to win her handicap debut over a longer trip at Salisbury earlier this month and, if anything, she looks even better suited by the extra two furlongs on offer here. With that in mind, we doubt a 6lb penalty will stop her winning! |
Trainer form
Sir Mark Prescott has a good national average strike rate of 17% but his 3yos this year show 11-44 for 25% and his 4yos+ show 8-17 for 47%. At Yarmouth he scores 76-353 for 22% and this year 2-3 for 67%. His combination with Luke Morris is also solid recording 331-1699 for 19% so all figures in excess of the trainer's national average. This is Prescott's only runner tomorrow.
Contenders
The improving Lawmans Blip was only narrowly repelled on his first attempt at this distance at Sandown two weeks ago and is unlikely to go down without a fight. Saulire Star has improved with each run to date and is another who should benefit from going up in trip but Coldstream has shown fair form when 14/1, and a respectable sixth of 14 in handicap at Salisbury (1½m, soft) 43 days ago. Up in trip again with cheekpieces added now.
Timeform
There's surely more to come from ALERTA ROJA on the back of her Salisbury success and she can defy a 6 lb penalty. Saulire Star made a decent start in handicaps when second at Wolverhampton in April and could be the one to give Sir Mark Prescott's filly most to do ahead of Lawmans Blis
Value
The 10/11 could be a great price come post time and is surely value or at least perceived value. Though our price is general we will seek a better price on the exchange!
Alerta Roja traded at a high of 7.00 and BSP of 5.22 when winning last time, a race in which it raced prominently.
By the way, there are two jockeys building up long losing runs with rides at Yarmouth today, they are Jimmy Quinn 115 and Josephine Gordon 63. That run is going to end at some point but we hope not in this race!
