World Of Dreams was successful in two NH flat races at 2m and 2m 2f on good to soft and soft ground. He was then deemed good enough to run in a Grade 2 at Aintree and ran well when finishing 5th of 18 at 16/1 over 2m1f on good to soft in April. He is a distance winner but also the only course winner in the field. He won first time up last season so we know he comes to hand early. Our Pacafi drops from Grade 2 to Class 4 and the significance must not be lost! |
World Of Dreams showed a useful level of form in bumpers last season, winning twice before not being disgraced when finishing fifth in Grade Two company at Aintree in April. The Anthony Honeyball-trained gelding returns after a wind operation and can make the perfect start to his hurdling career.
The Pacafi made his debut exactly a year ago on this course over this distance with many powerful yards competing, he was popular in the betting and then did the job decisively hitting the line hard suggesting a step up in trip will suit sometime soon. He is the first foal of a half-sister to winners Master Of The Hall (2m-3m1f hurdle/smart chase) and Pairofbrowneyes (useful 2m-3m jumps).
After the race the Anthony Honeyball told us: "World of Dreams did us proud (ridden by Rex Dingle), travelling stylishly from the start before easing into the lead on the final turn and galloping on strongly to beat Itsnotshatyouthink by 2¼l. World of Dreams has a nice attitude, is very straightforward and showed a bit more speed at Fontwell than I anticipated. Whilst not the biggest he clearly has an engine and will be a handy horse to go hurdling when the time comes. Before then we might look at a Listed bumper for him."
Next up at Hereford on soft ground in late February, he took the race quickly by the scruff of the neck from over 2f out and easily supplemented Fontwell's November win. Very briefly encouraged along when the pace lifted at halfway, he was soon back on the bridle and proved a cut above this opposition. In all his three runs he ran green at times and there looks to be plenty of scope for improvement, and more again when stepped up in trip!
In readiness for tomorrow's run the trainer told us: "World of Dreams has gone quite nicely at home and done nothing wrong. He runs at Fontwell on Friday and we will see what he can do." The statement suggests a quiet confidence...
The form of trainer Honeyball is considerably down on his 21% national average but note he had a winner yesterday. His numbers at Fontwell are astounding where he shows 24-61 for a huge 39% and a healthy +26.02 to level stakes. His 14 second places from within those figures mean his horses finish in the 1-2 position 38-61 for 62.3% so almost 2 out of 3. This means his horses are there to compete, we never see signs of schooling there! He has 2 entries tomorrow with the other at Warwick in a NHF race, but stable jockey Rex Dingle rides the Pacafi. The combination shows 39-173 for 23% (+19.03).
Gold In Doha looks set to give him most to do, having performed respectably when third in a Kempton bumper on his racecourse debut in February. His trainer Harry Fry shows a profit of £26.10 running horses after a break. Hititi showed ability when trained in France and may get involved at some point.
WORLD OF DREAMS was talented enough to win a couple of bumpers last season and on physique and pedigree he should do even better over hurdles. He's had a wind op ahead of this return and is expected to outclass these. Those with previous hurdles experience don't really inspire, so Gold In Doha is second choice.
The 4/5 looked north of value but even money has become available and we are playing, as we go to post 2.22 is being offered to small money on the exchange...
