Like everyone else we are excited and looking forward to the Gold Cup and have given our thoughts here.

One of our loveliest days in racing was when we spent the day with Rebecca Curtis and the team at her Fforest Farm stables, then down onto Newport Sands to exercise Teaforthree and At Fishers Cross before going to the pub for lunch! We were joined by Luke Harvey of At The Races and partner Emily Jones. There we got to know a little more about the horses, the team and rising star and stable jockey Patrick Corbett. It was there that Gearoid Costelloe embarrassed the young lad by giving us the quote "Here is the next AP McCoy!" Corbett begged The Racing Horse not to print the comment - sorry Eamon, it was an exclusive! He rides Gus Macrae 5.15 Cheltenham at 50/1 (BetVictor 11.25) and an each-way squeak if bouncing back to form. To small stakes Betfair offer 65.00 (11.30).

The Racing Horse and At Fishers Cross

Today the weather has come just right for At Fishers Cross and can give AP McCoy a belated first winner of the Festival. He has won five times from six rides on this horse (second the other time). Who would have thought after three days racing the jockey and trainer Paul Nicholls would be waiting for their first winner? What odds would you have got on that?

At Fishers Cross

At Fishers Cross (pictured with Charlotte) is unbeaten in two bumpers and has now won six times from eight races. He has won both his Cheltenham starts and is on a sharp upward curve over hurdles. He wants it somewhere between soft and heavy and the rain has come to assist. The son of Oscar displayed immense depths of stamina to win 3m handicap round here and that asset the difference when outstaying Neptune hero The New One over 2m4f on heavy ground here in January. His back problem appears behind him and this horse is improving at a rate of knots and can take today's Albert Bartletts Novices' Hurdle though the price has now gone as he trades at 5/2 (Bluesquare 10.43).

Shenanigans at Wolverhampton

There are shenanigans going on at Wolverhampton tonight and it could be time to play stop at a winner. Four horses in the care of trainer William Murphy and due to run at Wolverhampton this evening have come in for sustained across-the-board support with bookmakers this morning. All four have been absent for more than two years and will be the first Flat runners that Naas-based Murphy has had in Britain or Ireland since 2009.

The maiden Musical Express is 3/1 from 16/1 for the 6.25. Ros Cuire, another maiden, is 4/1 from 20/1 for the 8.00, Tumblecloud, off since 2009, is 4/1 from 16/1 for the 8.30 and Toberogan is 3/1 from 20/1 for the 9.00. The excellent Martin Lane has been booked to ride all four horses who run in the colours of John Murphy. We have never seen this attack before in this country and is exciting but what exactly has been going on? Will he fall foul of the stewards in any way? Our initial instincts are to wish him good luck!

Remember, with Murphy making the market there will be value in each of those races elsewhere, and opportunities to trade and we are going to have a long look now…
