Showed ability on debut

This looks a weak Class 5 Novice Auction Race at Kempton with just 6 runners but someone has to win it and Streamline bids to follow up his debut win in a Class 4 Novice Median Auction at Bath on 24 July. The colt was sporting a hood for that debut so clearly isn't straightforward and then last away running. Racing green he showcased his ability to make up plenty on ground down the straight and weave through two rivals late on to win with a bit in hand beating a 3/10 favourite. He looked particularly strong at the line and this good introduction suggests he'll probably race over 6f next time out.

Trainer bang in form and especially with the juveniles

Streamline, who is a half-brother to four winners out of half-sister to 5f Group 1 winner Gilt Edged Girl, showed a willing attitude at Bath and the stables 2yos are in great form so the Due Diligence colt is difficult to oppose in this. The trainer Clive Cox is 14-70 for July and August for 20% and 8-35 for 23% in the last 14 days and this sits way above above his national average of 14%. Interesting to note that Cox scored 13 winners in July and that equals his top winning score in a calendar month, the last two times were in May 2018 and September 2014. Kempton is also the trainer's best course for winners scoring 78 times. Adam Kirby rides the AW brilliantly and he partners the Pacafi.

Of his rivals

The main danger is the Archie Watson trained Better The Devil who was a winner at Hamilton on debut in June. This colt has not really kicked on though he was asked to race at Royal Ascot in the Windsor Castle on soft ground but finished last. It was his third of 8 in a minor event at Yarmouth over 5f last time out that suggests he is vulnerable against our Pacafi. He does have some size and scope so remains a live danger.

Timeform

Not a strong-looking event and STREAMLINE could be well placed to make it 2 from 2 after a pleasing debut at Bath. Newcomer Simply Silca may emerge as the danger.

Value

This does look a two-horse race with the Pacafi holding most of the cards. As we go to post 10/11 is readily available but looking for bits of even money if we can. Our price for the front two looks more like 8/11 Streamline 5/2 Better The Devil 10/1 Bar...
