Main Danger: Blind Beggar

OPTIMUM GROUND

At this stage we are not sure what optimum ground is for our Pacafi. He debut run was on good to firm and tomorrow she races on good to soft, so what do we know? Her sire Twilight Son was 3-4 on good to soft and finished second in the other race  and in races over 6f so that augurs well for tomorrow. Her dam Spinatrix was definitely a good to soft ground horse and needed cut in the ground with figures of 6 wins 3 seconds and 1 third from 15 starts on that surface. This hardy mare ran 40 times over 6f winning 9 times, finishing second 14 times and third 5 times. This 13yo mare has only produced two foals which is probably unfortunate, the second being our Pacafi.

There are two jockeys in the race on the cold list, they are Cam Hardie 51 and Shane Gray 35. Both will probably break those runs sooner rather than later.

Good opportunity with conditions to suit

Twilight Spinner is a half-sister to Twist Of Hay who won at 6f. David O'Meara's filly met trouble in running over this trip at Pontefract first time out before finishing with a flourish to almost snatch second behind odds-on hot-pot Scarlet Bear. She doesn't appear to be meeting anything of that calibre here and, with that experience now under her belt, she could take some stopping.

Contenders

State of Play has been gelded since finishing only fourth on his debut at Newcastle (sent off second favourite) but he's been gelded since and may do better over this extra furlong. Blind Beggar commands respect on his juvenile form and whilst has questions to answer after a disappointing return at Newcastle remains the main danger.

Trainer form

David O'Meara has excellent Ripon figures showing 87 winners from 533 for 16% and a blind profit to level stakes of +36.07, this is 5% above his national average. His current form is also above with 4 of his last 7 runners winning and over the last 14 days 13-61 for 21%. He sends 5 to the course tomorrow and will be looking for a win double. Jockey Danny Tudhope rides and he has a national average of 17% but rides at 19% on the Ripon course.

 Timeform

TWILIGHT SPINNER is bred to be a smart sprinter and shaped promisingly when third and better than the bare result at Pontefract on debut last month. She's preferred to Blind Beggar, who sets the standard on his best form but is more exposed. State of Play and Morty are other potential improvers.

Value

The 11/10 looks a perceived value price as we believe this filly has the makings of being decent for her inform trainer.
