CONFIGURATION: Kempton is a right-handed, Polytrack, flat, oval-shaped course with two loops. The inner circuit, used for races over 5f and 10f is sharp and has a finishing straight of just under 2f, favouring the speedy, handy type, markedly so over the minimum trip. The turn on the outer course is more sweeping and the straight is approximately 3f long, making for a fairer test. Over both 5f and 6f, there is a relatively short run to the first bend.

FAVOURITES: Kempton Racecourse Template offers us a huge sample giving the figures some real substance! Winning favourites at the course over the past 5-years show 677-1882 for 35.97% and a level stake loss of -174.85. Non-handicap winning favourites score at 44% as opposed to handicap favourites who score at 32% for a 12% differential.

BEST CATEGORY: 3yo NON-HANDICAPS 128-260 for 49% (-9.55)
WORST CATEGORY: 4yo HANDICAPS 229-722 for 32% (-68.49)

TRAINERS: Andrew Balding (15%) is top trainer at the course over the past 5 years. He was top trainer in 2023 and this year leads again and shows 11-36 for 31% (+35.90). He has 5 runners tomorrow including IMPERIAL GUARD 5.30, CUBAN MELODY 6.00, JUANTORENA 6.30, ARABIAN STORM 7.00, BREAK THE BANK 7.30

John Butler (9%) is in the doldrums. Currently he shows 0-39 over a period of 36 days, 0-29 for March and 2024 shows just 3-103 for less than 3%. At this time last year he had recorded 12 winners so 9 more whilst 2022 showed him score 17 winners in the same time frame. He has 4 runners tomorrow and his best chance looks to be SOUTH DAKOTA SIOUX 8.30 in the nightcap, a race where he has 2 runners. Win or lose tomorrow, he should be followed and filtered from here!

JOCKEYS: Oisin Murphy (19%) has 6 rides including WARRIORS DREAM 5.30, CUBAN MELODY 6.00, JUANTORENA 6.30, ARABIAN STORM 7.00, COCKTAIL DRESS 7.30 & ZIVANIYA 8.00. Lots of place finishes beckon but will he ride a winner? Probability suggests yes!

OWNERS: Three of the top trainers at the course have interest. Godolphin run GAMEKEEPER 5.30 trained by team Gosden, and is a lovely 3yo Blue Point colt closely related to 6f 2yo winner Nasimi (RPR 86), half-brother to winners Sovereign Prince (7f/1m inc 2yo/Listed; 111), Gold Stick (1m2f; 94) and Grand Traverse (French 7f; 90); eye-catching third of fifteen in 6f novice stakes on debut at York in October 2023; duly off the mark later the same month at Wolverhampton (6f). With the stable showing good form he is the one to beat in the opening Novice.

King Power (13%) has a single entry also in BREAK THE BANK 7.30 trained by Andrew Balding and to be ridden by Joshua Bryan.

Shadwell Estate (24%) have 2 runners including MUKAAFAH 5.30 & MOSTABSHIR 7.00. The first is trained by K P De Foy whilst the second is trained by J & T Gosden. Both horses are to be ridden by Jim Crowley (19%) who is currently 0-31 over a period of 53 days. His losing run is likely to end tomorrow!

These 3 owners run 4 runners and we can expect a winner if not two from them...

RED FLAG: Regular members know we never crow about a set of good results, but we genuinely believe the templates are a top-notch product containing entertainment, pertinence and value. TRH posted (2 days ahead of time) the following comments regarding the Monday Newcastle AW Meeting, knowing the possibility of a fail/fall: "On this card there are 6 lowly Class 6 Handicaps which will test the rationality and validity of our pertinence board, but a challenge we will accept. The beauty of our template is they primarily recognise facts and mathematics and a visionary platform to build from." So how did we do?

NEWCASTLE AW Racecourse Template (Monday 25 March 2024)

There was 9 races, our pertinence board found 8 winners. Ironically the only race we failed to find the winner was with our Pacafi who was beaten into second place. Most members who played were on at 3/1 before starting at 6/4 and we had advised each way betting. The prices of the winners were probably all odds-on? No they were not, they were 9/4, 11/8, 11/10, 9/4, 9/2, 15/2, 5/1 & 6/4. Yet again, we found the place-pot for £13.40, but the pertinence was even better than that! How so, how could it be better?

Race 2 showed CHIEFTAN winning at 11/8 with LUNAR ROCKS second at 22/1 paying an Exacta of £19.10 & CSF of £32.42.

Race 5 showed PALLACE LORD winning at 9/4 with SAISONS D'OR second at 10/3 paying an Exacta of £10.60 & CSF of £9.58

Race 6 showed RATAFIA winning at 9/2 with WATER OF LEITH second at 10/3 paying an Exacta of £17.40 & CSF of £18.24

Race 8 showed TATHMEEN winning at 5/1 with MARIE'S JEWEL 6/1 & ABSOLUTE DREAM 5/1 dead-heating for second place paying Exactas of £19.00 & £17.30 respectively and CSF's of £17.35 & £14.95 respectively. The Tricast paid £78.72 and the Trifecta paid £119.80

This is not a one-off, for those following our templates it is an attractive low cost entry into racing at that course on a given day.

Traditionally, Kempton Template is our favourite course for profiting from the Racecourse Templates and the reason we love covering them but tomorrow's card looks tricky. We will be following Jim Crowley as he seeks his first UK winner for 2024 and we look forward to the return of Charlie Appleby and his runners.

The way the track is prepared at Kempton can play a massive part in whether it suits front-runners or horses coming from behind. Most of the time, the going is officially rated ‘standard’ but I know, from having ridden in America, that all artificial surfaces are dependent on weather conditions. An inside draw is a big advantage on the round course, as you don’t want to be running wide, and there’s a tendency for jockeys to get going a long from home. My preference would be to use patient tactics - Jason Weaver
